I just heard it in my mind's eye. I bring these phones to workshops with my students and they always love the dialing... there is that satisfying suspenseful delay while it comes back to the center.
I took my childhood rotary phone when I cleaned out the parental home and it went into storage but now that I emptied my storage I can’t find it here in the boxes… so memorable sitting on the bottom step of stairway yakking with best friend daily back when all phone #s were in our brains and we dialed by memory like riding a bicycle …talking for hours while twisting and turning the coiled cord.
Imagine, before even telephone message machines, with little cassettes, dinosaur era.🦖🦕🦖🦕
Bilingual sounds a little better than it is. Many of his commands are in French so that other people can also use them like: Assis/Couche/Debout/Au pied… etc… but he’s got some English words to like “up” “stop” … and I am teaching him to count down from 5….
Yes, Jean... (busted). Neither Cindy nor Socks actually exist. I keep up the charade but also openly admit that the dog is "Zokami" or "Zoke" and I am his one and only daughter Sandolore. I originally wanted to get some distance from my litahrary substack... voila! Now you know all my secrets!
That’s right Socks…show that vacuum that he works for you and laying around on the floor will not be tolerated.
Thank goodness for the lines in the tiles or Socks would be completely camouflaged 😂 I for one am greatly looking forward to the international summer of Socks and will keep a close eye on any content stealing by your dad. (In other words I will “heart” the pictures twice).
You crack me up, Renee... I love "will not be tolerated!" Thanks in advanced for all the double and maybe even triple liking you will have to do! That pointer fingers going to get tuckered out!
So, anybody stumbling on this note, watch out, this guy is a full blown troll. His stack is dripping with hate and antisemitism... I blocked him. Jeez... kinda surprised me!
Our cat, Robert, hated the vacuum. He would hiss at it standing still, but when my husband used it, Robert would attack it, thinking my husband was in danger. “Perfect love casteth out fear.”
Lovely!! I have a parrot who argues very, very loudly with the vacuum cleaner.
I get the feeling that Socks once had a truly antagonistic relationship with the Vacuum Cleaner, which he long ago figured out thoroughly in his doggy cause-and-effect mind, and that he now says (and you can almost see his lips moving) "Well, I know this is completely ridiculous, but Cindy seems to like it so much. I do it for her -- it is always a kindness to indulge your Human in her little peculiarities, when training your Human" :-)
Yeh. You do well , for a Human :-) Your sense of smell is really, really poor, though (Dogs nose is 2000 times more sensitive than a Human's , according the the University of Pennsylvania's Sniffer Dog Program, which I have attended as an observer).
Please look up the book written by my tiny 6 inch high opinionated dog Max Dwyer, on Amazon ( -- I was recording secretary for the book) which goes into quite a few important points for Humans to know about Dogs. Its title is My Incredible Life!. Max Dwyer has had quite a stellar career as a Canine International Secret Agent He is agent .0007 -- (note he decimal point). Max also has a substantial interest in Particle Physics. This book will prove educational to you, Max suggests. :-)
Thanks for sharing Socks with us. Love the rotaty phone.
I am glad you enjoyed. I have two rotary phones even! Did you know that the French phones had a listening ear cup connected to the back?
Me too😺
We all need rotary phones sitting around!
Can still hear in my mind how the dial sounded, winding up and ticking backwards.

Yes, strange suspense!

Oh! The good ol days! I still remember my friends' phone numbers....
Socks is beautiful those ears say everything! 🐾✌️🐺
Ear monologues!
That was hilarious!
Is Socks bilingual? I’ve only heard you speak French to him.
And by the way, the stone floor is beautiful!

Next time I see Charlie posting a Socks photo I will definitely call him out on it! But wait, doesn’t he call him by a different name?

Well he’s a beautiful dog, no matter who the post comes from.
True... and, truth be told, I don't mind when my dad posts the Zok/Socks photos... I was just being cheeky.
What a good dog, and what a good idea for cooperative critters.
Best part of my morning!!! First we attack, then we get the good stuff. 🤣🤣
Maybe all of life should be like this, Pamela! Follow the Sock’s way!
I, for one, am here for any and all dog-related photo competitions!!! 🤣🤣
That needs to happen.

Socks has the best expressions! Too funny🥰
He really does!
the tile floor looks like garbage. Helen Keller construction company

Ouch, Rusty! I do admit that the tile floor isn't my favorite choice.
My jack Russell’s have always hated vacuums they bite it and bark can’t vacuum until they’re out of the house
I got the same problem. Lol
Great for carrying things though.
Like vacuum attachments? Lol
Exactly, Jim!
Our cat, Robert, hated the vacuum. He would hiss at it standing still, but when my husband used it, Robert would attack it, thinking my husband was in danger. “Perfect love casteth out fear.”
The protection! That’s hilarious, Kathleen! Robert had his back!
Kill it, tiger!! 🤣🥰😍❤️
Yep, it’s dead.
My dog Kapok, very much like yours, LOVED that vacuum. You are first one I’ve seen using this technology.
I love hearing every dog’s relationship to vacs… !

That is so great, Kate. Socks has trained me well, that's the truth.

Kate, this is extremely important!
Yes. Nothing like a good education to improve one's life. Or a good bone and a nap.
and a scratch
Woof! :-) !!
