The Sit Downs, After the Storm
A Supplemental Jazz Movement
It has come to my attention that three additional works arrived after the official ceremony concluded.
Under normal conditions, this would not be possible.
However, the wind has been blowing at 100 km/h, the rain has been falling sideways, and I have not had a proper walk in three days. The single attempt was so violent it barely qualifies. We turned back.
I am also shedding at a rate that has triggered repeated brushing interventions. These are unsolicited.
We have been in Bordeaux for the French mid-winter break and are returning home today to determine whether we still possess a roof.
In short: circumstances have been extreme.
Before presenting the final three awards, I would like to revisit a matter Cindy keeps dismissing.
I awarded Best Edge Jazz / Hard-Bop Edge Release to a dog named Jazz.
Cindy says this was coincidence but I say this was clairvoyance.
I cross my claw that I had no prior knowledge.
I feel certain recognition is due.
Now.
In spite of meteorological oppression and domestic grooming campaigns, the art continues.
Best Spa-Core Visual Album
Wrapped in towel, ears tucked, fully surrendered to the ritual. This is not merely bathing. This is installation art.
Best Neo-Classical Reclining Composition
A languid study in romantic decadence and full-bodied sensuality. Draped across the fainting couch with the confidence of a 19th-century salon muse, this work recalls Francisco Masriera y Manovens’ A Woman Lying on a Couch—only furrier, and arguably more self-aware.
And in the lower right, a skull.
Symbolism. Mortality. Domestic vanitas.
Nothing accidental here.
Best Improvised Jazz Arrangement
For an act of near-impossible balance, executed with the confidence of someone who absolutely meant to do that.
Amrita Skye Blaine’s Jazz.
Yes. Another Jazz.
I will not elaborate on the metaphysical implications.
Thank you to our late entrants.
The movement expands.
The Sit Downs remain open to evolution, psychic insight, and weather permitting, actual walks.
Socks

While the weather has dampened his outdoor activities, Socks' literary skills have flourished. The late entries are outstanding. His commentary on the fainting couch entry deserves a medal in itself.
